Bank Statement for Schengen Visa: Amount & Requirements
Schengen consulates require 3-6 months of bank statements showing at least the country's daily minimum × trip length. France €65/day, Germany €45/day, Spain €113/day, Italy €45-89/day, Netherlands €55/day. Apply at the consulate of your primary destination or first entry point.
Minimum funds by Schengen country
| Country | Min. daily funds | 10-day trip total |
|---|---|---|
| France | €65/day (or €32.50 with hotel proof) | €650 |
| Germany | €45/day | €450 |
| Spain | €113/day (minimum €1,017) | €1,130 |
| Italy | €45-89/day (sliding scale) | €450-890 |
| Netherlands | €55/day | €550 |
| Belgium | €95/day (with hotel) or €45 with host | €950 |
| Austria | €50/day | €500 |
| Greece | €50/day (minimum €300) | €500 |
| Portugal | €40/day + €75 entry | €475 |
| Switzerland (not EU but Schengen) | CHF 100/day | CHF 1,000 |
How many months of statements?
Most Schengen consulates require 3 months (France, Germany, Spain, Italy). Netherlands and Nordic consulates often ask for 6 months. The goal is to show consistent financial history, not a one-time deposit. Sudden large deposits 1-2 weeks before applying are the #1 red flag for rejections — deposit funds 3+ months ahead.
Required format
- Full name matching passport
- Account number, IBAN, bank name, bank address
- Bank stamp or digital signature (most consulates accept e-statement PDFs)
- 3-6 months of transactions with running balance
- Final balance ≥ minimum funds for your trip
- Translated to English / host country language if bank is non-Eurozone
