How to Download a Bank Statement from Any UK Bank

Quick answer

Log in to your UK bank's website or app → select the account → click Statements or Documents → pick the month → Download PDF. Most UK banks keep 6-7 years of statements online; fintechs (Monzo, Starling, Revolut) keep statements from account opening. UK statements are not password-protected.

The UK has the most CSV-friendly banking in the world — nearly every major bank supports native CSV export of transactions. This guide covers 16 UK banks including high-street names, fintechs, and building societies.

High-street vs fintech

UK banks split into two broad categories when it comes to statements:

High-street banks (Barclays, HSBC UK, NatWest, Lloyds, Halifax, Santander UK, Nationwide): formal monthly or quarterly statements as PDF plus CSV / OFX / QIF export for accounting software. 7 years online.
Fintechs (Monzo, Starling, Revolut, Chase UK): statements generated on demand in the app rather than on a monthly cycle. Everything stays in the app from account opening. CSV is native and fast.

The universal UK bank flow

  1. 1Log in to the bank's website or open the mobile app
  2. 2Select the account (current, savings, credit card, loan)
  3. 3Find 'Statements' or 'Documents' in the account menu
  4. 4Pick the statement period (newest first)
  5. 5Click or tap Download PDF
  6. 6Most UK banks also offer CSV/OFX — look for 'Download transactions' separately
