1. How to Print From Any Bank (General Steps)

Every major US bank follows the same pattern — the labels just differ slightly.

1
Log in to your bank's website
Go to your bank's website on a desktop or laptop browser. The mobile site works too, but the desktop site usually has a clearer path to statements.
2
Find "Statements" or "Documents"
Look for a "Statements," "eStatements," "Documents," or "Account Documents" link. It's typically in the account details page, a sidebar, or a dropdown under your account name.
3
Select the statement period
Most banks show the last 12–18 months by default, with a dropdown or calendar to go back further. Click the month you want.
4
Open or download the PDF
Click "View," "Download," or the PDF icon. The statement will open in a new tab or download to your computer.
5
Print the PDF
With the PDF open, press Ctrl+P (Windows) or Cmd+P (Mac). Set paper size to Letter, orientation to Portrait, and scale to "Fit to page." Click Print.

2. Bank-by-Bank Instructions

Chase
  1. Log in at chase.com
  2. Click "Statements" in the left sidebar (or "Accounts" → select account → "Statements & Documents")
  3. Select the statement month
  4. Click "View" — opens a PDF in a new tab
  5. Print with Ctrl+P / Cmd+P or the PDF viewer's print button
💡 Chase keeps up to 7 years of statements online.
Bank of America
  1. Log in at bankofamerica.com
  2. Click "Accounts" → select account → "Statements & Documents" tab
  3. Choose the month from the list
  4. Click the PDF icon — downloads or opens in browser
  5. Open the PDF and print
💡 BofA provides up to 18 months of statements online for free; older ones may require a fee.
Wells Fargo
  1. Log in at wellsfargo.com
  2. Select the account, then click "Statements & Documents"
  3. Choose "Statements" from the dropdown
  4. Click the statement date to open the PDF
  5. Print from the PDF viewer
💡 Wells Fargo keeps up to 7 years of statements available online.
Citi
  1. Log in at citi.com
  2. Go to "Accounts" → select account → "View Statements"
  3. Pick the statement period
  4. Click "View" — opens as PDF
  5. Print using your PDF viewer
💡 Citi provides up to 6 years of statements online.
Capital One
  1. Log in at capitalone.com
  2. Click on your account → "Statements" tab
  3. Select the month
  4. Click "Download PDF"
  5. Open the downloaded PDF and print
💡 Capital One stores statements from account opening.
Any other bank
  1. Log in and find "Statements," "Documents," or "eStatements" — usually under Account Details or Settings
  2. Select the month and open the PDF
  3. If there's no PDF option, take a screenshot of the statement page (less official)
  4. Print the PDF directly
  5. For missing months, contact customer service or visit a branch
💡 Most US banks follow this same pattern — the label and menu location varies.

3. Best Print Settings for Bank Statements

Wrong print settings are the most common reason a printed statement looks bad or gets rejected. Use these:

Paper size
Letter (8.5" × 11")
Standard US document size — matches what the bank designed the statement for.
Orientation
Portrait
Bank statements are always portrait. Landscape cuts off the right side.
Scale
Fit to page (or 100%)
"Fit to page" ensures nothing gets clipped at the margins. Use 100% if the statement already fits.
Margins
Default / Normal
Don't use 'minimum margins' — some printers clip content at the edges.
Print quality
Standard or High
Draft mode can make numbers hard to read. Use Standard at minimum for any official submission.
Color
Black & white is fine
Bank statements are designed to be readable in B&W. Color ink is wasted here.

4. Printing From Mobile

You can print a bank statement directly from your phone without ever using a computer:

iPhone (AirPrint)
  1. Download the statement PDF from your bank app
  2. Open the PDF in Files or the Mail app
  3. Tap the Share icon → "Print"
  4. Select an AirPrint-compatible printer on your network
  5. Tap Print
Android
  1. Download the statement PDF from your bank app
  2. Open with Google Drive or a PDF viewer
  3. Tap the three-dot menu → Print
  4. Select your printer (or Save as PDF)
  5. Tap Print
No printer at home? Email the PDF to yourself and print at a library, UPS Store, FedEx Office, or Staples. Most charge $0.10–$0.25 per page.

5. When You Need an Official Printed Statement

A PDF you printed yourself is accepted by most landlords, lenders, and employers. But some institutions — especially for mortgages or legal proceedings — require an “official” statement directly from the bank.

1
Request at a branch
Visit your bank and ask a teller for a printed statement. They can print it on official paper and may stamp or sign it on request. Free at most banks, though some charge $5–$10.
2
Request via customer service
Call the number on the back of your debit card and ask for "official statement copies." They may mail physical copies or generate a digitally certified PDF you can download.
3
Bank verification portal
For mortgage applications, many lenders now use platforms like Plaid or AccountChek to pull statements directly from your bank — no printing needed. Ask your loan officer if this is an option.
4
Notarized copy
In rare legal situations, you may need a notarized bank statement. Print the PDF, bring it to a notary public (available at UPS Stores, banks, and libraries), and they will certify your signature acknowledging it's accurate.

Common questions

Do printed bank statements need an official stamp?+
For most purposes — rental applications, proof of income, loan pre-qualification — a printed PDF from your bank's website is fully acceptable without any stamp. If someone requires an "official" or "certified" statement, you typically need to request it directly from the bank, either in branch or via customer service. These may come sealed or with a bank signature.
Can I print a bank statement from my phone?+
Yes. Log in to your bank's mobile app, navigate to Statements, and download the PDF. Most phones can print directly via AirPrint (iPhone) or Google Cloud Print / nearby printer (Android). You can also email the PDF to yourself and print from a computer.
How do I get older bank statements to print?+
If the statement isn't available online (typically older than 5–7 years), call your bank or visit a branch. They can usually retrieve older statements for a fee — typically $5–$25 per statement. Some banks offer a lower-cost option for bulk historical requests.
Will a screenshot work instead of a printed statement?+
Rarely. Screenshots are easy to fake and most landlords, lenders, and employers know this. A PDF printed from your bank's official site carries more credibility because it has consistent formatting, account details, and often a header showing it's an official bank document. Always use the PDF version when possible.
How many months of statements do I need to print?+
It depends on the purpose. Rental applications typically ask for 2–3 months. Mortgage applications ask for 2–3 months. Personal loans vary by lender but usually 1–3 months. Tax documentation: the full year. When in doubt, print 3 months — that covers most requests.
What if my bank only shows transactions, not a formal statement PDF?+
Some online-only banks (like Chime or smaller credit unions) show transaction history but don't generate a traditional statement PDF. In that case, use your bank's export feature to download a CSV or transaction report, or contact support to request an official statement document. You can also request a bank letter confirming account history.
