The summary, without keying a single line
What a bookkeeper builds by hand in a spreadsheet, read straight from the PDF.
Income and expenses on one screen
Total money in, total spent and what was left, with income grouped by payer and spending grouped into 19 categories.Every merchant named and sorted
Bank codes become readable names. Change a category once and save the rule, and that merchant is sorted the same way on the next statement.Recurring charges found
Subscriptions and other repeating payments are listed with how often they bill and what they cost a month, along with possible duplicate charges.Out to the ledger
Export the categorized rows to Excel or CSV for working papers, QBO for QuickBooks, or QIF and OFX for other software.

By hand vs from the PDF
By hand, an income and expense summary means retyping or copy-pasting every row, cleaning merchant names, tagging each line, then building a pivot table. Most of that time goes into data entry, not into the numbers.
Here the statement is read in about a minute and the summary is already built. What is left is the part that needs an accountant: checking the categories, splitting personal from business, and deciding what goes where. Ask the built-in AI about the statement (for example, “what did they spend on software this quarter?”) and it answers from the transactions.
Working with bank statement loans or rentals? The mortgage and loan view covers what lenders check, and the accountants page covers exports, volume and the API.

Income and expense summary — FAQ
What is a good tool to summarize income and expenses from bank statements?
One that reads the PDF itself, so nobody keys anything in. Upload the statement here and the report shows total money in and out, income grouped by payer, spending grouped into categories, recurring charges, and what was left. Every row exports to Excel, CSV, QBO, QIF or OFX if the summary has to go into a ledger or a working paper.
What is the best software for bank statement analysis for accountants?
It depends on volume. DocuClipper and similar firm tools are built for high volume, bulk ingestion and Xero or QuickBooks sync, with prices from $29 a month for 60 pages. MyBankStatementAnalysis is built for reading the statement: income sources, categories, recurring charges and an AI you can ask questions, with plans from $9 a month and a Business plan at $49 for 500 pages with an API. Run one client statement through both and compare.
Which spending categories does the bank statement analyzer use?
Nineteen: Housing, Rent, Utilities, Groceries, Dining Out, Transport, Gas, Insurance, Healthcare, Shopping, Entertainment, Subscriptions, Travel, Education, Personal Care, Transfers, Income, Savings and Other. You can recategorize a transaction and save the rule so the same merchant is sorted the same way next time.
How do I find recurring subscriptions in my bank statement?
Upload the statement. The report lists recurring charges with the merchant, the amount and how often it bills, and adds up what they cost a month. It also points out duplicate charges.
Can I summarize several bank statements at once?
You can upload several PDFs together. Each statement gets its own report with its own totals, so you can export each one and combine them in Excel for a year-end summary.
Does it work with scanned statements and any bank?
Yes. Digital PDFs, scans and phone photos from any bank, in most languages. Password-protected PDFs can be unlocked during upload.
What happens to client statements after upload?
The PDF is deleted right after it is analyzed. The extracted transactions are kept so the report can be shown, and a signed-in user can delete a report at any time.
