How it works

Upload once, get a clean list of suspected duplicates

The AI ignores recurring bills and transfers on purpose — so you see real errors, not noise.

1

Upload your statement

Any bank or credit card statement as PDF, JPG, or PNG. Maximum 10MB. No account needed.

2

AI scans every charge

We read every transaction, group same-merchant same-amount charges, and filter out normal recurring bills, transfers, and utilities.

3

See suspected duplicates

Flagged duplicates appear with dates, amounts, a confidence rating, and a one-line reason — so you know exactly what to check.

Six patterns we catch

The duplicate charges people miss most

Same-amount duplicates are easy to miss in a busy month. These are the patterns the AI looks for specifically.

1

Same merchant, same amount, close together

Two or three identical charges from the same merchant within a short window — the single clearest duplicate signal.

2

Auth-and-capture duplicates

Some merchants authorize a charge, then re-capture it as a separate line. If both settle, you're out the money until they refund one.

3

Accidental card re-runs

Restaurants and small retailers sometimes swipe the card twice if the first run 'looks' like it failed. Both charges can still settle.

4

Out-of-cadence subscription repeats

A subscription billed twice in the same week. Normal monthly cadence is excluded; same-week repeats are flagged.

5

Retail double-captures

Split shipments or partial refunds that end up posted as two full-amount charges instead of one charge plus a refund.

6

Free-trial-to-paid overlaps

Occasionally a free trial converts and bills while a prior charge is still pending. Both can post as same-amount transactions.

What we ignore

Recurring bills don't count as duplicates

A same-amount charge that hits on a regular cadence is a subscription, not an error. These are filtered out before the AI reviews candidates.

Rent, mortgage, utilities, and insurance payments
Weekly / biweekly / monthly recurring subscriptions
Internal transfers and brokerage funding
Cash withdrawals and ATM activity
Loan payments and autopays

What to do next

1. Cross-check the dates in your banking app

Open the exact transactions the tool flagged. Check whether each one is a real charge versus a reversed authorization.

2. Contact the merchant first

Most merchants refund same-day once you show them the two identical charges. Keep the emails or chat transcript as proof.

3. If the merchant won't help, dispute with your bank

Credit card users can file a billing-error dispute under Regulation Z — typically within 60 days of the statement date. Debit card users have Regulation E protection with similar timing.

4. Keep records for future scans

Save the resolved refund — the tool may flag the same pair next month if both charges still appear on a future statement. Context makes resolution faster.
