HDFC Bank Statement PDF Password: Format & How to Unlock

Password-protected bank statement PDF with secure unlock flow
Quick answer

The password for an HDFC Bank e-statement PDF is your HDFC Customer ID (User ID) — not your date of birth. 8–10 digits, no spaces. Find it on the HDFC Mobile app (Profile), NetBanking homepage, welcome kit, or any previous HDFC statement.

Common mistake: HDFC is different from most Indian banks. YES Bank, Axis, Kotak, Canara, PNB, Union, and others use your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format — see our complete Indian bank password guide. HDFC does not follow that pattern — it uses your Customer ID. Entering DOB will fail on every HDFC statement.

If the Customer ID doesn't work

  • Make sure you're entering exactly the number of digits printed in your profile — no spaces, no leading zeros to add
  • For older credit card PDFs (pre-2019), try the last 4 digits of your card number, then DOB in DDMM format
  • Retrieve the correct Customer ID through the HDFC Mobile app, NetBanking ("Forgot Customer ID" link), or PhoneBanking on 1800-202-6161
  • If you recently opened the account and haven't set up NetBanking, check the welcome kit or call PhoneBanking to confirm your Customer ID
