How it works

Convert CSV rows into a QuickBooks Online import file

Use this page when you already have transactions in CSV and the next step is QuickBooks Online. The converter reads your rows, lets you confirm the date, description, amount, and category mapping, and generates a QBO Web Connect file (.qbo) you can import without rebuilding the data by hand.

QuickBooks Online accepts .qbo files through the 'Upload transactions' banking flow. Exporting a clean .qbo from CSV saves you the 3-month rolling window limit most direct bank feeds have, and it sidesteps mismatched column issues that make a plain CSV import fail halfway through.

This route stays intentionally narrow. It is for CSV-to-QBO conversion only — not PDF statements, not OFX, not QIF. If your source file is a PDF bank statement, use the PDF-to-QBO route instead. If it is QIF or OFX, the QIF-to-QBO page covers that direction.

Map the right columns

Match your date, description, amount, and category columns before exporting so the QBO file reflects real transactions and not header rows.

Generate a QBO Web Connect file

Download a .qbo file that fits QuickBooks Online's 'Upload transactions' flow — cleaner than forcing a raw spreadsheet through the CSV importer.

Keep memo, amount signs, and dates

The converter preserves transaction dates, signed amounts (debits negative, credits positive), and memo-like fields so the QBO import reconciles correctly.

Step by step

How to convert CSV to QBO in 4 steps

  1. 1

    Upload your CSV

Drag the CSV file into the converter above. It can be an export from Excel, Google Sheets, another bank tool, or a manual spreadsheet.

  2. 2

    Confirm column mapping

Check that the date column is the date, amount is the amount, and description is the description. Flipping two by mistake is the most common failure mode in CSV imports.

  3. 3

    Download the .qbo file

The converter generates a QuickBooks Web Connect file in-browser. Save it to your computer — it is the file QuickBooks Online expects.

  4. 4

    Import into QuickBooks Online

In QuickBooks Online: Banking → Upload transactions → pick the account → drop the .qbo file → QuickBooks shows a preview, then you accept the transactions.
